    Almonds are a common eating nut that has been enhanced with several medicinal characteristics to offer several health benefits. Although the fruits are known to be high in fat, they are also packed with beneficial nutrients. Almonds naturally possess the laghu and ruksha gunas and have a madhura rasa (sweet flavor). It has ushna virya (heating power), which balances the Kapha (earth and water) and pitta (fire and water) doshas while adversely affecting the vata (air and ether) and pitta doshas. 


    Daily Dose: One ounce, or 28–30 grams, of almonds, or 22–23 almonds, can be consumed daily.

    Side Effects of Almonds

    • Can Cause Bloating:  Almonds can cause bloating, constipation, and stomach irritation if you eat a lot of them.
    • Kidney Infection: If too many almonds are consumed, one may have kidney stones as a health problem.
    • Tree Nut Allergy: Almond consumption in excess or uncontrolled consumption over an extended period of time might cause tree nut allergy. Allergies to almonds may cause swelling, rashes, anaphylaxis, and shortness of breath.
    • Blood clotting problems and Hemorrhage: Almonds contain a lot of vitamin E, and consuming too much of it can result in an overdose and dangerous repercussions like blood clotting problems and hemorrhage.
