A Brief About the Disease

Oral lichen planus is a chronic inflammatory condition that affects the mucous membrane inside the mouth. It can cause white, lacy patches on the ridges of the tongue and inside the cheeks. Lesions can be either red or white, when they are white, they don’t cause much pain and discomfort but when they turn into red, certain pain and discomfort can be seen.

Ayurveda explains OLP as Charmakushta, a skin allergy condition that is caused due to vata-kapha dominance and can be explained in detail under the roof of kshudra kushta.

Causes of OLP

The exact cause of OLP is unknown but it is generally believed that an altered immune response is the main reason behind the OLP. Studies have also shown that oral lichen planus can be triggered by the following:

  • Having an autoimmune disorder
  • Presence of oral infection
  • Certain medications
  • Certain food and dental appliances come in contact with the mouth.

Chief Complaints

Her parents explained that she’s having the following symptoms since 2018:-

  • Symptoms of oral lichen planus over the buccal mucosa and under the lips.
  • Rashes over the folds from the last 6 months.
  • Allergic responses (Skin rashes) since childhood.
  • History of recurrent cough and cold at the age of 2.5 years.

Can Oral Lichen Planus Be Cured Completely?

If you ask this question to others, you’ll probably hear, NO but not us, Dr Sahil Gupta has successfully treated oral lichen planus which is a chronic inflammatory condition that will take more time to get the cure and also not possibly get treated 100%, recurrence of the disease is common with other conventional medications, but not with ayurveda. Everything seems to be possible with Ayurveda and its miraculous Ayurvedic medications. Oral lichen planus is a very rare condition in children and affects elders and adults, so her parents were much worried about her condition, and now she’s living without any buccal infection as Ayurveda helps in the elimination of the disease from its root cause.
