Allergic diseases can be caused when our body is allergic to certain allergens. Atopic Diseases

Atopic diseases are entirely the IgE-mediated immune response and they differ from allergic diseases because allergic diseases occur as the result of immune reaction to the antigen regardless of mechanism.

Atopic diseases include Eczema, Asthma, Rhinoconjunctivitis, etc. These diseases tend to run in families and often occur together. Atopic diseases can have a significant impact on quality of life and may require ongoing management and treatment to control symptoms and prevent complications.

Causes of Atopic Diseases

Although the exact causes of atopic diseases aren’t known, the following risk factors can be the reason behind chronic atopic diseases.

  • Genetics: Atopic diseases are believed to be run in families and there is a genetic predisposition in their occurrence. If one or both of their parents have any atopic disease, then there are greater chances of developing in children too.
  • Immune system dysfunction: Overactive immune system is the main reason. People with atopic diseases react to the harmless substances in the environment. This abnormal immune response can cause inflammation and other symptoms associated with atopic diseases.
  • Environmental factors: Certain allergens like pollen, dust mites, pet dander, mold, and cigarette smoke are some of the common allergens that trigger the immune system and exaggerate the severity of atopic diseases.
  • Lifestyle factors: Certain lifestyle factors, such as stress, poor diet, and lack of exercise, can also contribute to the development of atopic diseases.

Atopic diseases include a wide range of conditions as we have mentioned above, so the symptoms also depend on the type of atopic disease.
