The middle ear is the part of the ear behind the eardrum. It is a cavity where somequantities of fluid are usuallyformed. Generally, this fluid flows out of the ear through the Eustachian tube which connects the middle ear and the back side of the throat.Fluid when gets accumulated in the middle ear result in the condition called middle ear effusion, otitis media with effusion (OME), or serous otitis media. This is common in children of two years or younger age and is rare after eight years of age. In Ayurveda, the condition is called Pootikarna. Causes of Middle Ear Effusion
