In this condition thyroid gland doesn’t produce enough certain hormones. Hypothyroidism is underproduction of T3 and T4 hormones. The synthesis of thyroid hormone requires sufficient iodine in the presence of thyroid stimulating hormone. Iodine is taken into the thyroid gland. Insufficient iodine thyroid stimulating hormone, can reduced production of thyroid hormone.

Thyroid gland is a small butterfly shaped gland situated at the base of the front of your neck, hormones produced are Triiodothyronine (T3) and Thyroxine (T4).

Signs are fatigue, constipation, increased sensitivity to cold, weight gain, puffy face, muscle weakness, joints pain, thinning of hair, hoarseness of voice, slowed heart rate, depression, Goitre, etc.

Causes of Hypothyroidism are Autoimmune disorder, Congenital Thyroid Deficiency, Iodine Deficiency, Removal of Thyroid Gland, Stress, etc.

Hypothyroidism in Children and Teens, results in poor physical growth, delayed development of permanent teeth, delayed puberty, poor mental development, etc.
