From an Ayurvedic point of view, allergic disorders can be understood as a manifestation of Asatmya (incompatibility)[1] and Dushta Pratishyaya-type conditions, arising from impaired Agni (digestive and metabolic fire) and subsequent formation of Ama (toxic, unmetabolized by-products).[9] This Ama, when circulated through Rasavaha and Pranavaha Strotas, leads to Strotorodha[1] (microchannel obstruction) and vitiation of Kapha and Pitta Dosha, resulting in heightened reactivity of body tissues.[1]

The condition reflects the state of Vyadhikshamatva Vaishamya (disturbed immune tolerance), where the body responds excessively even to otherwise harmless substances. Clinically, this manifests as symptoms like Kasa (cough), Shwasa (breathlessness), Kandu (itching), and Twak Vikara (allergic skin reactions).[9] Thus, allergic disorders in Ayurveda are not merely external reactions but represent a deeper imbalance involving Agni, Ama, Srotas, and Dosha interplay, ultimately leading to abnormal immune responsiveness.
