The Institute of Applied Food Allergy® (IAFA Ayurveda) proudly announces the publication of a groundbreaking clinical case report in the International Journal of Ayurvedic and Pharmaceutical Research (IJAPR). The study presents compelling evidence on the successful Ayurvedic management and reversal of alcohol-induced hypersensitivity, clinically correlated with Aahar Asatmyata.
Alcohol-induced hypersensitivity is an often overlooked condition marked by flushing, palpitations, hypotension, and systemic heat following alcohol intake. Conventional care typically relies on antihistamines and long-term avoidance, offering limited scope for resolution of the underlying metabolic dysfunction.
This published case details the treatment of a 34-year-old male suffering from recurrent hypersensitivity reactions alongside Grade 1 fatty liver. Through a structured and personalized Ayurvedic protocol, including herbal therapeutics, metabolic correction, and strict dietary-lifestyle regulation, the patient achieved rapid symptom resolution and, notably, full restoration of alcohol tolerance.
Within weeks, hypersensitivity symptoms reduced dramatically, and antihistamine dependence was eliminated. Over a monitored follow-up period, the patient maintained stable tolerance, with only occasional mild, self-limiting episodes linked to dietary indiscretions.
The therapeutic approach focused on correcting key pathophysiological factors such as impaired digestion (Agnimandya), metabolic toxin accumulation (Ama), and Pitta-Rakta imbalance, while simultaneously supporting liver function and restoring the gut-liver axis.
This case highlights Ayurveda’s strength in addressing root causes rather than symptoms alone, demonstrating that alcohol intolerance may be a reversible functional disorder. The findings open promising avenues for integrative management and call for larger clinical studies to further validate these outcomes.
