Nauli Kriya – How to Do, Precautions and Benefits

Nauli Karma or Nauli Kriya or Laukik Kriya is one of the Shat Karma (the yogic procedure done for cleansing of the body), which is a kind of abdominal massage which provides exercise to abdominal viscera and abdominal muscles. Nauli is derived from two words Nau means boat and li means ‘to adhere to or ‘to grasp’. Therefore, Nauli is the procedure in which Sadhaka (practitioner) make their body tubular shape in the middle of the abdomen, by bending forward and pushing the abdomen backward, In this procedure, abdominal organs movement is done transversally and vertically like the waves (Lehar) movement. Nauli Kriya is mentioned as Laukik Kriya in Gheranda Samhita.

Benefits of Nauli Karma

To bring intensity to the digestive fire, to digest the consumed food, to keep the body always happy, to destroy all the diseases of the stomach, all these are special qualities.

Gheranda Samhita, Pratham Updesha, 52

The act of rotating the stomach (stomach) on both sides with a strong velocity is called louliki. By doing the Sadhna of this Laaliki or Louliki Yoga, all kinds of diseases are destroyed and the body increases.

Under Laukik Kriya, sitting in the state of Utkatasana or Uddiyana Bandha, two thick Nadis located inside the stomach are rotated vigorously from right to left. By doing this kriya, Kundalini is awakened, as a result of which knowledge emerges. It is also called a power drive. If this power is practiced for two hours, then along with having a strange type of yoga force in the body, the practice of basti and conch shelling proves itself to attain physical radiance and health. This action is worth knowing by the instruction of a qualified Guru.
