The Institute of Applied Food Allergy® (IAFA®), IAFA Ayurveda, is proud to announce the publication of a significant case study in the renowned Ayushdhara Journal, highlighting the successful Ayurvedic management of a patient with allergic rhinitis and food intolerance.
The study, titled “Ayurvedic Management of Allergic Rhinitis with Correlation to Vata-Kaphaja Pratishyaya,” presents an integrative therapeutic approach rooted in classical Ayurvedic principles. The case documents a 32-year-old female patient with a long-standing history of nasal allergies, persistent nasal blockage, sneezing, and food intolerance, who achieved substantial improvement through a comprehensive Ayurvedic protocol.
The treatment plan included a combination of Nasya Karma (nasal therapy), proprietary herbal formulations, dietary modifications, and yogic interventions. Over a treatment period of 90 days, the patient experienced approximately 75% symptomatic relief, with further sustained improvement during follow-up, without any reported adverse effects.
This case study correlates allergic rhinitis with Vata-Kaphaja Pratishyaya, emphasizing the role of Dosha imbalance, impaired Agni (digestive fire), and Srotas (body channel) dysfunction. The findings reinforce Ayurveda’s holistic framework, which focuses on detoxification, immune regulation, and restoration of internal balance.
According to the authors, this publication marks an important step in bridging traditional Ayurvedic wisdom with modern clinical understanding, particularly in the management of allergic and immune-related disorders.
